If you haven’t heard of Paul Tough before, he wrote and published “How Children Succeed” in 2012 which has received global success. Tough summarises elements of the book in this talk delivered to WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education). He focusses on the importance of instilling ambition and independence in students to develop their ‘character’ or ‘grit’. He also considers the role the teacher’s expectations have to play in this.
