This post has really helped me to reflect on my own explanations. I have been really mindful about how I have been delivering explanations, especially with new information at GCSE level. I've had success by really slowing down the learning and providing the new information in 'chunks', using questions to assess understanding; my able students have been able to add depth and clarity to their responses. I've also found it has had a great impact on the boys in my group.
